Emotional Baking
nostalgic OG Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I’m nostalgic, bordering on wistful, and I miss all the things. If ever there was a time to make something homemade that’s chock-full of memories, and the right amount of sweetness - it would be now. I think I’ll bake...
I'm feeling...
something that’s warm and familiar (like a kind hug from an old friend),
something that’s been made (with delight) many times before,
something with an unmistakable and welcoming aroma,
something that needs no introduction - you know what they are...
TLDR:
  • I’m nostalgic
  • I’ll bake
  • OG Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Familiar, unmistakable, welcoming
  • Memories
These cookies, like all chocolate chip cookies, are perfect, and they taste heavenly whether they’re freshly baked or have been waiting until the moment is right.

  • 2 large egg yolks

Memory lane awaits...
Preheat the oven to 325˚F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the butter to a medium bowl and whisk until smooth. Add the sugars to the butter and mix until creamy.
Add the vanilla, egg yolks and maple syrup, mixing well after each addition.
The sweet smell in the air takes me back...
Fold in the flour, baking soda and salt.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
So much (child-like) delight here!
Drop the dough by the tablespoon onto the baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cookies are a light golden brown at the edges.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
*Nostalgia* is best enjoyed with a glass of milk or a cup of tea...
